I create my own memory postcards like this to remind myself of the lessons I have learnt.

#1 So what if I ride a bike while they drove a fancy car

I created this to remind myself of how many people around me have changed once they have reached some sort of personal financial success.

Friends whom have become someone else I couldn’t recognized, full of pride…

#2 The First Kick

(normally in the face, at the teeth where it hurts permanently)

Ouch, it hurts…especially pride. Many years ago after a major failure, I was left with just a few dollars in my bank account.

People who knew you can’t pay them turned nasty.

People whom you thought were your friends suddenly disappear, primarily because they might be afraid to lend you money which they might feel might never get returned.

It hurt like mad. Humiliated.

I got up on my feet and told myself, don’t do that to anyone. Be nice, don’t humiliated, every dog has his day. I had mine.

#3 Catch Your Dreams

After I fell rock bottom with betrayal and lack of enough money to feel secure, the only one way to go, was up.

I read many books and articles once again, my lifelong passion since young.  They are a source of what brought me up on my feet again.

Catch your dreams is something I remind myself when I am alone and when no one believed I will stand up. Those around you might say they believe because they cared, but caring and really believing…vastly different.

You can see it in their eyes and the way they try to hold back what they are saying but suck it back up into their minds.

Those who stayed by me when I fell, good buddies, true friends, love and family.

Be nice to them, always.

#4 Just because it didn’t worked the first time

Heck, I recognized the pattern, success comes after failing many times right?

Manz, it hurts like mad each time that I felt and thought I am getting immune.

How do you know when you are immune?

When you no longer feel heartache and sadness turn into mad crying and anger…

When you sit down alone and think what went wrong…

When you know you will eventually meet success when you get better…

which leads to…

#5 Tomorrow the sun will rise and life goes on

Knowing that I can try again tomorrow, comforts me.

#6 Practice like mad, enjoy your work.

Knowing that if I practice hard enough, worked hard enough and love what I am doing.
I will eventually create a great story…

#7 New Places Scare Me

Knowing that everything new is going to be difficult at first before it becomes easier and then easy.

 #8 Not available after 10pm

Knowing that certain things in life have a time limit, a period of time when it is available. That piece of sushi may be there for you to pick up the whole day, but when it’s after 10pm and the shop closed, you can’t have it.
The time is over.
You have to battle and grab chances when they are still available.

#9 Divided we may sway. United we must stand

Can refer to many cases but this especially.
The left brain and right brain are different, one wants to create something perfect while the other knows the body needs food which money can buy.
The final decision must be united. Produce and ship. Don’t stay at the dock just hoping fish will come.

#10 World class excusable reasons

Of course, the classic excuse…I am not sleeping, I am not lazy, I am just thinking.
Sometimes it’s true, sometimes it is not.
Be true to yourself. I am the easiest to deceive by myself.

#11 The secret to life

The secret to life… is to stay out of trouble when you know danger is coming.
Is to avoid unnecessary trouble. Some battles are yours to fight, some battles are not.
Fight every battle and the war is guaranteed to be lost. Mind our own business.
Cruel cold effective advice. Say NO instead of YES more often.
Time is precious. Time is limited.

#12 Eat and Sleep well

Nothing reduces stress and unhappiness for me more than eating well and resting well.
I sleep about 4 hours a day and nap a little when I am really tired. I eat food I find nice…
That includes instant noodles with egg on it.

#13 Food tastes best when someone you love cooks for you

Enough said 🙂 Thanks!

#14 Value of my watch

Some people buy and appreciate expensive watches.
I don’t know how.
But I have my G-Shock watches. They last a heck of a long time.
They lasted me through the forest when I was a soldier.
It lasted me my adult school life.
Yes, it will last me my work life as well.
One day, it will last me through my retirement.
Not the most expensive but very effective in what they do. Tell time and last long.

#15 This is the comfort zone

Books are nice to read and lessons nice to learn from.
But if there is no action after you have learnt it, I am just in the comfort zone.
Open the door and get out there to do things!

#16 This scares people

So I opened the door out of my comfort zone and this is what most people will see.
A never ending desert. Should I venture forward unprepared?

#17 Risk is safer when you are prepared

No. Only move when you are prepared. Prepared to take on what is ahead.
Carry enough water, bring enough food but you may never know how much is enough.
So bring your smart phone. Reduce the risk.
In the desert, the unprepared may meet a very dry certain death.

#18 Stay sharp

Some things exist to keep you alert.
Like coffee.
Don’t work when you can’t think no more though. Rest and see #12 again.

#21 There are always two sides of the story

Whatever a book shows, there is another side which doesn’t appear.
“Do what you love” they say,
but most don’t warn “But make enough to pay the bills first.”
Know where is the dangerous edge where you might fall because either side, it will end and off the ledge we may fall if we are not careful.

#22 What is in store for life today?

Always stay positive but don’t just sleep in the morning…don’t sleep through it. Wake up, work!

#23 Last man standing

Those who went on the adventures with you might fall one by one and give up along the way when you are on a journey to find yourself and them, themselves.
But never give up, be the last man standing and battle on.
The chances of winning is still there.
I am a Rock.
I don’t Sway.
I Stay.

#24 To show quality, first portray class

What you produce, must first taste good…which many people can.
What I produce, must taste and look good…. which not many people are willing to put in the extra effort.
That’s quality in its class.

#25 Jobs and businesses are fast becoming permanently temporary

Whatever I create today, wherever I work today, may be gone tomorrow.
Never be too overconfident it will last forever, not failure, not success.

#26 Determination : Rule number 1, never ever give up

Yes, I am tired most of the time.
I don’t really get enough sleep.
But heck it.
I am going to get things done.
I am going to better my life.
I will work harder for my family.
I will never ever give up!
Work harder than anyone else!

#27 Ocean unlocked

One day my success will come…the ocean will unlock and what comes will be bountiful.
Stay positive.
The postcards are created with this in mind.
Summarize main lessons learnt and create something like this:
Derive the main message from what you have learnt and create a “memory card” with the main message on it.
Like a motivation poster, one glance at it and…
EUREKA once again!
Instant recall even it might be something you learnt years ago..
Keep learning, creating memory postcards. Recall. But most of all, remember that we learnt this…
For the most of the past 200,000 years, most humans don’t have a goal
Hunt, eat, reproduce, sleep…rinse and repeat… beautiful formula.
This is our chance to have a goal.
To live a life of purpose.
To create from our dreams a reality.
To create a life that matters.
